SAINT-ETIENNE – The Belgian Thomas De Gendt won the 8th stage of the 106 / o Tour de France cycling race, from Macon to Saint-Etienne, 200 kilometers long. The French Julian Alaphilippe, on the eve of the transalpine national holiday, resumed the yellow jersey of leader of the general classification, taking it off to Giulio Ciccone who had kept it for two days.

Giulio Ciccone, this is the Italian who was the yellow jersey at the Tour de France.

Giulio Ciccone, born in Chieti on 20 December 1994, is an Italian road cyclist who runs for the Trek-Segafredo team. Professional since 2016, he has the characteristics of a climber and has won two stages at the Giro d'Italia (one in 2016 and one in 2019), in addition to the GPM classification at the 2019 Giro d'Italia. He is the fourth youngest rider ever to win a stage at the Giro d'Italia, after Fausto Coppi, Luigi Marchisio and Vito Taccone.

In 2014, Ciccone was part of "Team Colpack Under-23". With this team he obtained two victories in the City of Boscochiesanuova Grand Prix and in the Rigoberto Lamonica Trophy.

In 2017 with the "Bardiani-CSF", he won a victory in the 6th stage of Tour of Utah (Heber Valley> Snowbird).

In 2018 with the "Bardiani-CSF", he finished with a victory in the Tour of the Apennines.
In 2019, with the "Trek-Segafredo", he won two victories in the 2nd stage of the Tour du Haut-Var and in the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia (Lovere> Ponte di Legno).
