MOSCOW (RUSSIA) – The world of Russian football is mourning the death of Innokenty Samokhvalov at the age of just 22 .
Innokenty Samokhvalov was a product of the youth sector of Lokomotiv Moscow .
From this championship he had moved on loan to Kazanka, in Serie B , to play continuously.
Samokhvalov did not die during a game, nor during a training session on the pitch but while he was practicing sports in his home in Moscow.
The death occurred on April 20. Samokhvalov was training at home because even in Russia it is forbidden to train outdoors for the now known events of the coronavirus.
Samokhvalov was one of the most talented footballers of his generation. He was born and raised in the youth sector of Lokomotiv Moscow where he arrived when he was very young when he was in third grade.
At 22 it is not easy to have a starter shirt in a prestigious club like Lokomotiv, so the boy, on the advice of the club, went to play on loan in Serie B where he immediately made the difference.
Samokhvalov was a complete defender. The 22 year old was physically strong but was also very agile and fast.
In the youth sector of Lokomotiv he won trophies in series, now he was approaching professional football.
Despite his young age, Samokhvalov was already married and had a son. Lokomotiv recalled this with a long press release released on social media and on its website.
