Pavan was a 400- year-old, his golden year was 2016 when he scored his personal bests from 47.89 on the 400, from 21.84 on the 200 and from 11.04 on the 100.

“A sad news for Italian athletics.

At the age of 25 Mario Pavan died, a valid athlete of the Cento Torri di Pavia.

Born April 2, 1995, he was originally from Belgioioso (Pavia) and had competed for the Cento Torri until the 2018 season.

His best year had been 2016, when he hit his personal bests from 47.89 to 400, from 21.84 to 200 and from 11.04 to 100.

In the same year Pavan had obtained the most beautiful medal, the third place in the Absolute Italian Championships in Rieti with the 4 × 400 relay of his club, obtaining important placements also at the Italian Juniores and Promises Championships (sixth in the 400 and fourth in the 4 × 400).

"An athlete, a training and hard work partner, an altruistic boy who had made himself known also in the social field with the Africa Athletics project", remembers the Cento Torri Pavia.

Pavan was precisely the vice president of Africa Athletics, the association he had helped to found, with the aim of bringing athletics to African countries where this sport is still not widespread.
