VAL THORENS – Vincenzo Nibali won the 20 / a and penultimate stage of the 106 / o Tour de France of cycling, from Albertville to Val Thorens, only 59.5 kilometers long after the reduction of the route due to bad weather. The Colombian Egan Bernal has mortgaged the success of the French race, confirming himself in the yellow jersey before the last stage scheduled tomorrow at Rambouillet in Paris, of 128 kilometers.
Vincenzo Nibali, here is who is the winner of the penultimate stage of the Tour de France.
Vincenzo Nibali is an Italian road cyclist who runs for the Bahrain-Merida team. Professional since 2005, he is considered one of the most complete and versatile cyclists of his generation: he is a complete racer, able to win both the big stage races and the big one-day classics.
He has qualities as a pass-climber and defends himself well as a time trial, in addition to being a strong downhill skier. He is one of seven cyclists (the second Italian after Felice Gimondi) to have won at least one edition of all three Big Tours, having won the Vuelta a España 2010, the Giri d'Italia 2013 and 2016 and the Tour de France 2014.
He is also one of four riders (along with Merckx, Hinault and Gimondi) to have won the three Great Tours and two different classic monuments: he has in fact won the Lombardy Tour twice, in 2015 and 2017 and a Milan-Sanremo, in 2018.
These great victories are joined by two Italian championships in line, in 2014 and 2015, and two Tirreno-Adriatico, in 2012 and 2013. In total, they climbed eleven times on the podium of the three great laps.
Since amateur he has been nicknamed " the Squalo of the Strait " or more simply " the Shark " for his way to always run to the attack and for his Messina origins. He has a younger brother, Antonio, also a professional cyclist and his teammate at Bahrain-Merida (sources Ansa and Wikipedia).
