Rome transfer market, no Europa League for Smalling: the player returns to United. Giallorossi on Vertonghen

Roma transfer market, the Giallorossi have not reached an agreement with Manchester United so Smalling should not participate in the final phase of the Europa League.

Calciomercato Roma, Smalling's Giallorossi experience is at the end of the season after just one season. The Englishman played a great championship but Roma was unable to reach an economic agreement to keep him in the capital.

The Giallorossi offered fifteen million euros but United asked at least ten more. This is because Smalling, thanks to the good season played in Rome, has entered the crosshairs of the transfer market of several clubs.

In fact, both Ancelotti's Everton and Sarri's Juventus would have made contact with United.

Both clubs would submit a higher bid than Roma's. But that's not all, United could also consider reinstating him in his squad because he is now a completely recovered player.

What will Roma do now? The Giallorossi are a bit firm on the transfer market because at the moment they don't even have a sporting director.

In fact, Franco Baldini would be dealing with the Giallorossi transfer market, who turns out to be only an external consultant of the Capitoline club.

Baldini would have used his English background to close the Vertonghen deal. The Belgian footballer would have reached an agreement with Roma on the basis of 3 million euros per season for the next two years.

Vertonghen is currently released after a very long experience with Tottenham. In London he played 315 games scoring 12 goals. He previously played 22 games for Ajax, scoring 28 goals.

But obviously Vertonghen would not be usable in the Europa League. Roma will have to play the competition with three regular defenders (Ibanez, Mancini and Kolarov) and with the following reserves (Fazio, Cetin and Jesus).
