ROME – The Appeal Sports Court has reduced Paulo Fonseca's disqualification from two to one day. This decision was taken after reviewing the video of the stormy post match of Roma-Cagliari.
A Fonseca is still a day of disqualification because he exaggerated in protest against the referee but a penalty round was removed because he did not offend the refereeing team. The coach will return to the bench during the big match between Rome and Milan but will miss the Sampdoria.
Meanwhile, Rome, on its social media channels, published photos of the last training session. In this gallery, you see Edin Dzeko with a protective mask. Although the doctor advised him to recover calmly, Dzeko is forcing his hand to be on the pitch in Genoa against Sampdoria (provided the game is not postponed due to bad weather).
His possible presence in the field does not automatically exclude Kalinic. In recent games, the former Fiorentina striker has moved well and is likely to have a chance on the field of Sampdoria.
Moreover Kalinic has shown to play very well paired with Dzeko so he could still start as owner also with the Bosnian striker in the field from the first minute.
The Giallorossi know that it will be a very difficult match because it will be the first match after the end of the championship due to the commitments of the national teams and because the blucerchiati will be regenerated from the mental point of view by the change of coach.
As happened last year in Rome, also this year Claudio Ranieri took over from Eusebio Di Francesco. The former Leicester coach was asked for another sporting 'miracle': saving the last Sampdoria in the standings.
The team is in pieces from both a tactical and a mental point of view. Ranieri will have to regenerate the entire rose to achieve the goal.
