MILAN – Forty-two years after Sandro Mazzola , another Mazzola returns to wear the Inter shirt even if for now we are only talking about youth. This is Giuseppe Mazzola, a 14-year-old boy who is not a relative of Sandro, who has just moved to Milan after winning the category championship with the Lazio shirt in the final on Roma.

Giuseppe Mazzola, a very talented young man, was joined to Inter Under 15 coached by Paolo Annoni. Although there is no degree of relationship with Sandro, Inter fans cannot but see the surname Mazzola printed again on a Nerazzurri shirt.

Sandro Mazzola is considered one of the best Italian footballers ever,   Valentino's son, legend of Turin, he linked his name to that of Inter, with whom he played from 1960 to 1977 collecting in total 565 presences and 158 networks. With the Nerazzurri shirt he won four national championships, but above all two European Cups and two Intercontinental Cups.

He was also captain of Inter for seven seasons (from 1970 to 1977), succeeding Mario Corso. After completing his competitive career, he held various managerial positions within the Nerazzurri club, the last of which saw him occupy the position of sports director from 1995 to 1999.

National from 1963 to 1974, it played the victorious European championship 1968, Italy's only success in the competition, and participated in three editions of the world championship (England 1966, Mexico 1970 and West Germany 1974).

Famous was the rival in the blue shirt with Gianni Rivera, player symbol of Milan and its main antagonist for a starting spot, although between the two there was a relationship of mutual respect.

At the individual level, he graduated best scorer of the top European club competition in 1964 and best scorer of the Italian championship in 1965, coming second behind Johan Cruijff in the ranking of the Golden Ball (1971). In 2014 he was included in the Hall of fame of Italian football by virtue of the contribution offered to him as a footballer (sources La Gazzetta dello Sport and Wikipedia).
