ROME – The scientific group of Serie A sports doctors has drawn up a vademecum with 21 rules to be respected for the players of the top league of the Italian football championship in order not to incur contagion from coronavirus. We report below these rules from the Gazzetta dello Sport.

DO NOT DRINK FROM THE SAME BOTTLE

Do not drink from the same bottle, bottle, glass in the race or in training, always using disposable glasses or a nominal or personalized bottle, and do not exchange other items (towels, bathrobes, etc.) with your companions.

DO NOT EAT IN THE CHANGING ROOM

Avoid consuming food in the changing rooms .

CLOTHING

Store personal items and clothing in your bags, avoiding leaving them exposed in the changing rooms or in common baskets.

PAPER HANDKERCHIEFS

Throw away the paper tissues or other used materials such as plasters, bandages, etc. in the appropriate containers.

TO WASH HANDS

Wash your hands thoroughly as often as possible: hand washing and disinfection are decisive in preventing infection. Hands should be washed with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and then, after rinsing them thoroughly, they should be dried with a disposable towel; if soap and water are not available, a 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer can also be used.

TOILET

When using common toilets, avoid touching the tap before and after washing your hands, but use disposable wipes to open and close it.

DISPENSER AND DISINFECTANT

Encourage the use of automatic dispensers with adequate disinfectant cleaning solutions, both in the changing rooms and in the toilets.

DO NOT TOUCH

Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

TOBE IN THE ARM

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue – preferably disposable – or with your arm, but not with your hand, if you cough or sneeze.

AIR CHANGE

Ventilate all rooms as often as possible.

CLEAN TABLES, CHAIRS, TAPS

Periodically disinfect tables, benches, chairs, hangers, floors, taps, handles, showers and toilets with bleach or chlorine based disinfectant solutions, solvents, 75% ethanol, paracetic acid and chloroform.

WHAT TO DO IN THE POOL

In the case of sports activities or training in the tank, request constant monitoring of the chemical parameters (chlorine or other disinfectant solutions) and physical parameters (including pH or temperature, which affects the level of chlorination).

WHAT TO DO IN THE FIRST SYMPTOMS

Athletes who show obvious symptoms of respiratory infection and / or fever must immediately leave the rest of the team – and, possibly, isolate themselves – and notify the social doctor in professional teams or the federation's medical officer in federal rallies, who will contact – if the indication exists – at Number 112 or at Number 1500 of the Ministry of Health operating 24 hours a day, without going to the Emergency Department. In all other categories, the athlete – it being understood that he must immediately abandon the rest of the team and, if possible, isolate himself – must contact his own doctor by telephone (General practitioner for adults, Pediatrician of free choice for minors) , who can invite the athlete to contact the 112 or 1500 of the Ministry of Health, operating 24 hours a day, without going to the emergency room.

VACCINATE AGAINST INFLUENCE

For those who have not yet been vaccinated against the flu, advise the flu vaccine as quickly as possible, in order to make diagnosis and management of suspected cases easier. Gastro-intestinal symptoms (not necessarily typical) should be monitored.

CONTACTS AT RISK

Inquire from athletes and company staff if there have been any contacts in person or within their family with people who have returned from areas at risk or in quarantine

SPORTS MEDICAL SCREENING

Use the sports-medical examination as a fundamental screening tool, through a careful history and objective examination for the identification of subjects potentially at risk of immune or with symptoms.

NATIONAL MEETINGS

In the event of national gatherings or athletes or international circuit events also authorized abroad, always provide for the presence of a Federation Doctor who can evaluate all participants clinically, at a preventive level, identifying any individuals at risk and adopting the more suitable isolation measures, following appropriate management procedures according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

SOCIAL DOCTORS

With reference to the Social Doctors and, in particular, to those of professional teams or professional athletes pursuant to the Law of 23 March 1981, n.-91 and in any case of all those companies whose athletes carry out activities at international level, carefully monitor the Countries to which you are heading or from which you are returning, according to the indications of the Ministry of Health. FMSI has set up a direct link and specific e-mail addresses for all the Federal Doctors, who are the reference point for the clubs and athletes, for a more effective coordination of information thanks to the direct line between the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Sport , Cones and FMSI.

NO AWARDS

Avoid awards or other forms of contact with the public (e.g. clubs or various events)

THE RISK OF INTERVIEWS

Use a single microphone in interviews to be disinfected each time (therefore not various microphones held by the journalist)

AVOID FANS

Leave the stadium by team bus or private car avoiding physical contact with fans (source La Gazzetta dello Sport).
