MUNICH – The world of football huddles around Franz Beckenbauer. The former Bayern Munich legend and the German national team had an ocular infarction that put their right eye out of play. He revealed it himself on the sidelines of a charity tournament.

Beckenbauer: "I was in a clinic, I had an eye attack."

Beckenbauer made the following statements to As on the sidelines of a charity golf tournament. "I have been suffering from health problems for some time, this is known. I was admitted to a specialist clinic where I was diagnosed with a serious problem with my right eye. The problem is circulatory in nature, it is an ocular infarction. And now I see almost nothing from that eye and I am practically blind. On the contrary, avoid or come upon you because I see nothing! "

The legendary German is considered one of the greatest players in the history of football,   he grew up in Bayern Munich, to which he tied most of his career (from 1964 to 1977) winning four German Cups, four German championships (Budesliga), a Cup Winners' Cup, three European Cups and an Intercontinental Cup.

In 1977 he moved to NY Cosmos, with whom he won three North American championships in four seasons. From 1980 to 1982 he played in Hamburg, where he won another championship before ending his career with NY Cosmos.

With West Germany he participated in three World Cups (1966, 1970, 1974) and two Europeans (1972, 1976), winning the 1972 European Championship and the 1974 World Championship.

On an individual level, he won two editions of the Golden Ball, in 1972 and 1976, becoming the first defender to receive the coveted prize twice.

As a coach he led West Germany, Olympique Marseille and Bayern Monaco, winning the 1990 World Cup, the German 1993-1994 championship and the 1995-1996 UEFA Cup. Together with Mário Zagallo and Didier Deschamps, he boasts the distinction of having won the World Cup both as a player and as a coach. Since 2009 he is honorary president of Bayern Munich.
