ROME – European champion Matteo Trentin of Mitchelton Scott won the 17th stage of the Tour de France, 200 km Pont du Gard-Gap. For him it was the 23rd success in his career. Today he preceded by 37 ”the Danish Kaspar Asgreen. The French Julian Alaphlippe has kept the yellow jersey of leader of the general classification.
As Sky Sport writes on its website, the day's getaway starts after a few rides, with as many as 33 riders leaving the group soon. As Sky Sport writes, the Mitchelton-Scott European champion passes with a thirty second advantage on top of the GPM and launches himself towards the goal of Gap: nobody takes him anymore and so Trentin conquers the third affirmation of the career to the 'great boucle 'after those of Lyon 2013 and Nancy 2014 and the second Italian in this Tour after that of Viviani in the fourth fraction.
The Alaphilippe group arrives very detached, with the Frenchman retaining the yellow jersey for the 13th day after saving precious energy in view of the Alps , where the winner of this Tour de France will be decided (sources Ansa and Sky Sport).
