According to these theses appeared on social media, and without any foundation, Italy could be rescued in place of Ukraine (affected by the ongoing war conflict) or could receive a special wild card from FIFA. The first post-elimination hoax of the Azzurri concerns Ukraine. Some links appeared on social networks speak of an Italy at the World Cup instead of Ukraine. According to this first thesis, Italy would be promoted ex officio as reigning European champion. But this is not possible. Because if Ukraine could not take the field, Scotland (its direct opponent in the current playoffs) would be made to pass in its place.
