Milan, Pioli renews until 2022. Rangnick remains in Leipzig: “This is not the right time”

Milan surprisingly confirms Stefano Pioli, renewing his contract until 2022, and effectively blowing up the agreement with Ralf Rangnick.

Ralf Rangnick will not be Milan's new manager. The negotiation is skipped, the manager will not move from Leipzig and at the same time the Rossoneri have announced the official renewal of Stefano Pioli 's contract.

To confirm what had rebounded in Italy as an indiscretion of the Kicker newspaper was Rangnick's own prosecutor, Marc Kosicke.

“Ac Milan and Ralf Rangnick have agreed that it is not the right time now and that there is no momentum for working together. Therefore, and taking into account the good development and results with coach Pioli, it was decided that Rangnick will not have any function at Milan ".

A few minutes after the final whistle of the game won by the Rossoneri against Sassuolo, here is the official statement from the Rossoneri that puts an end to the word.

“AC Milan announces that it has reached an agreement with Stefano Pioli for the extension of his contract as a coach for two years, which will expire at the end of June 2022.

Stefano joined AC Milan's technical guide in October 2019 with an agreement until the end of the season.

He was able to manage brilliantly both the blockage due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the restart of the current season, with a concrete and positive approach, making the whole team grow ".

The closure of the deal with Ralf Rangnick and the change of course of Milan, which confirmed Pioli, will not be painless, however.

Based on the pre-agreement reached – even if the Rossoneri's internal sources deny it – and which will now be indemnified with the seal of the pacts, Milan will have to pay the German manager 2 million euros .

Finally, the fate of Paolo Maldini and Zlatan Ibrahimovic could now also change: it is not excluded that the two may now decide to remain in the Rossoneri society too. (sources CORRIERE DELLA SERA, MILAN NEWS)
