OPORTO (PORTUGAL) – Porto won two by one at Vitoria Guimaraes with a goal from Marega but the game is making people argue above all for the serious episodes of racism against the striker of the "Dragons". Marega was targeted by opposing fans after scoring the winning goal.
The opposing fans began to insult with racist phrases and also tried to hit him with a seat thrown from the stands. At this point, Marega left the field in protest but the referee did not want to support his protest and warned him because by regulation the pitch cannot be left. The behavior of the race director outraged everyone on social networks.
Marega's social outburst after racist chants during the game.
After the game, Marega let off steam on Instagram with the following post: “To the idiots who come to the stadium to make racist choruses I just say to go to that country. And I also thank the referee who warned me because I defended the color of my skin. I hope to never see him again on a soccer field. Shame".
Porto coach Sergio Conceicao also commented on this very serious episode of racism. His statements are reported by La Repubblica:
“We are truly indignant. I know the passion there is and I think most fans don't recognize themselves in the attitude of some people who were in the stands.
They insulted Marega since the warm-up. We are human, regardless of nationality, skin color, height or hair color. We deserve respect. What happened here is sad "(YouTube video).
