English football delayed, the Premier League is expected to restart in mid-June

LONDON (ENGLAND) – English football wants to start like Italy but it is lagging behind our movement because the coronavirus spread there after .

The Premier League hopes to resume the season in mid-June in time to end the league by the end of July .

This is the hypothesis that garnered the most consensus during the meeting that took place via video conference between the 20 clubs of the British top division .

In light of the trend of the coronavirus pandemic in the United Kingdom , with (at least) another three weeks of lockdown just decided from Downing Street, the start of the athletic preparation of the teams cannot start again before mid-May.

In the hope – Covid-19 permitting – to be able to return to the field on the weekend of 13-14 June.

English football would then have seven weeks to play the remaining 92 games behind closed doors in all likelihood to end the season.

A solution that would leave August free for the international matches of the European cups , as foreseen by UEFA, which imagines to place the Champions League final in Istanbul on Saturday 29 August.

On the other hand, the idea of closing the season by the end of June seems to have completely disappeared , canceling the last days of the season.

If, on the other hand, the health emergency on the island does not allow a resumption of the season in June , the clubs have also considered suspending all activities until next October, six months after the last official game played in England (source ANSA ).
