ROME – Farewell to Phil Masinga . The South African Football Association has announced the premature death of the player who had also played in Bari Fascetti and Salernitana: only 49 years old the former striker, considered a star of the national team of the African country, has given up after a long illness.

"It is a sad day for South African football – the announcement of the federation – a loyal man inside and outside the field has left us".

Masinga died in a hospital in Johannesburg where he was transferred last month due to the aggravation of the disease. "We lost a giant of our football" the words of the federal president Danny Jordaan.
Masinga would have turned 50 next June.
