FLORENCE – German Pascal Ackermann won the 2nd stage of the 102 / o Giro d'Italia of cycling from Bologna to Fucecchio (Florence), 205 kilometers long.

Montanelli was born in Fucecchio 110 years ago, in 1909, the year in which the first edition of the pink race was held. The departure meeting was set in Piazza Maggiore, in Bologna, the start was given at 12.20, after a 5.5-kilometer queue.

The route started to climb up to the Apennine brow, followed by a long descent to Prato. The stage continued with a series of ascents and descents of varying difficulty, but above all with the Grand Prix of the mountain at Montalbano (the Castra, 424 meters high, after running 157.6 kilometers) of 3 / a Category: yes it is a 5.8 km long climb with a 6.8% gradient.

Other Gpm after 178.7 km, in San Baronto: 340 meters high by 4 / a Category. Even in the final kilometers the ups and downs were not lacking, with the last 4 km on narrow roads. The final straight is 900 meters long and 7 meters wide.
The flying goals are placed after 130.2 km, in Montespertoli, and after 146,7 km, in Empoli. The arrival is set in Via di Fucecchiello, between 5 and 5.30 pm.
