ROME – The Tour de France has been postponed. The new dates of the 107th edition of the Grand Boucle have already been identified: departure on August 29 from Nice and arrival on September 20 in Paris. Confirmation is expected by Thursday from the Amaury Sport Organization (Aso).
The news gave it "Le Dauphiné" on its website. Always according to what reported, the Tour would scrupulously follow the path initially planned.
The postponement of the Tour de France was made mandatory after the announcement by French President Macron that it banned public events until mid-July due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Grand Boucle, initially scheduled from June 27 to July 19, is expected to begin on August 29 and end on September 20 . Officials from the Aso organizers are expected by Thursday 16 April.
The Tour de France since the end of the Second World War had never been canceled. However, the organizers chose differently, studying acceptable safety margins. Everyone will therefore have to adapt to his majesty Tour de France, obviously without prejudice to the agreement with UCI.
