CRANS MONTANA (SWITZERLAND) – The Italian Sofia Goggia wins the downhill at the World Cup in Crans Montana, Switzerland, in 1.29.77.
The Italian dominated the race ahead of Swiss Joana Haehlena, second in 1.30.26, and the Austrian Nicole Schmidhofer, who finished third in 1.30.29. Seventh another Italian, Federica Brignone, in 1.30.55, and eighth Nadia Fanchini in 1.30.60.
For the Bergamo Goggia, 26, this is the sixth victory in the World Cup and the fourth in its discipline.
Last 5 February Goggia, a financier originally from Valle di Astino, had won the world silver in the supergiant in Are, in Sweden. In that case the blue was very close to the triumph, reached however by the American Mikaela Shiffrin, at the fourth world gold after the three consecutive among the tight piles.
