Serie A starts regularly on 19 September but the matches of Inter and Atalanta have been postponed

Serie A will start regularly on 19 September but the matches of Inter and Atalanta have been postponed.

No postponements, no changes in the running for Serie A. The championship returns on September 19th. Only the Inter and Atalanta matches have been postponed.

After a short break, the Italian football season in the year of Covid restarts with the certainty of at least the start: Serie A will in fact resume on 19 September, as the League itself had requested in early August.

This was established by the Federal Council of the FIGC, which also formalized the closure, scheduled for May 23, in addition to the Italian Cup final to be played on May 19 and the resumption of Serie B and C on the weekend of 26-27 September.

Meanwhile, the novelty is the unification of the Can of A and B into a single National Referees Commission starting from the 2020/21 season.

It will allow the exchange of whistles between the two main categories with the aim of promoting technical growth according to the use of the Var:

"It is an important step in the growth of our referees", commented the president of the Football Association, Gabriele Gravina.

“A good project that I believe will give us great results and that comes at a favorable general moment, in which we use technology”.

Inter and Atalanta start again after the others.

The first Serie A match of Inter and Atalanta will be postponed in a completely exceptional way and by virtue of the fact that they closed the 2019-2020 season last compared to all the other teams:

is the decision taken unanimously by the Lega Serie A Council which met by telephone to decide on the issue.

Among the topics touched by the board, also that on the post lockdown recovery.

Two requests that the Football Association has sent to the government and the Scientific Technical Committee.

The first concerns a more flexible use of swabs in favor of serological tests:

"We presented our proposals to the CTS that should be examined between today and tomorrow – Gravina announced on the sidelines – what is particularly important to us is the limitation of tampons, always with the principle of maximum respect for the health of athletes but guaranteeing the at the same time greater flexibility ".

According to the request of the FIGC, swabs should no longer be performed every 4 days but every 8.

To guarantee the certainty of negativity, only serological tests would take care of it, which so far seem to have brought good results:

"We hope for a relaxation of the buffers", the hope also of the president of the Lega Pro Francesco Ghirelli.

Ghirelli has obtained the extension of three spaces on the jerseys for the sponsors in order to give more breathing space to the club's revenues and according to which one of the recipes for meeting the clubs could also be the reopening of the stadiums to subscribers as a first step towards a gradual return to normal.

On the issue, Gravina does not take a stand but underlines:

“We are confident that the CTS can also take into account our ability, also considering the great positive outcome that not only the protocols but also the controls have given.

Since when will it reopen? From the moment in which it is held appropriate to reopen we will all be more serene and calmer ”.

“There have already been some experiments in recent days – he concluded – which have given extraordinary results from the point of view of discipline and organization” (source Ansa ).
