ROME – The Scudetto race got underway, with three teams fighting for the title until the end. Juventus , the first solo until the 23rd day, were joined by Inter following the defeat against Verona and the simultaneous victory of the Nerazzurri in the derby against Milan. Lazio moved one point away from the duo by winning in Parma.
But what would happen in case of equal points in the first place between Juventus, Inter and Lazio? There are four criteria taken into consideration in the Serie A regulation to establish the final position of two or more teams in case of equal points:
-points made in direct confrontations;
– goal difference in direct clashes;
– general goal difference in the championship;
– greater number of goals scored in the league;
-draw.
The direct clashes between the teams involved represent a crucial junction. Currently Juventus beat Inter (2-1 at San Siro), Inter beat Lazio (1-0 at San Siro) and Lazio beat Juventus (3-1 at the Olimpico). We will have to wait for the return matches to draw up a definitive balance. Lazio-Inter will be on Sunday evening, 16 February, while Juve-Inter will be on Sunday 1 March.
