Ronaldinho has returned to freedom, he had been detained in Paraguay since last March 6.

Former Brazilian AC Milan and Barcelona player Ronaldinho, who has been detained in Paraguay for more than five months on suspicion of entering the country with false documents, was released today.

This was announced by the judge handling the case.

The magistrate, Gustavo Amarilla, also released the brother of the former Brazilian footballer Roberto de Assis Moreira.

The two men had been in detention since last March 6.

Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, aka Ronaldinho:

"He is free to travel to any country in the world, but he will have to let people know if he changes his address permanently for a period of one year."

This was the conclusion of the magistrate during the hearing, which lasted three hours and was broadcast live on television.

The prosecution asked Ronaldinho to pay a fine of 90 thousand dollars for "damage to the company".

After being detained in a police station in Asuncion, where the 2005 Golden Ball celebrated its 40th birthday on 21 March, the two brothers had been under house arrest for five months in a luxury hotel in the capital of Paraguay.

Ronaldinho and his brother should return to Brazil on a private flight as soon as the authorizations have been obtained. (source ANSA -AFP).
