LAS VEGAS – Italy in the Olympus of Texas Hold'em . As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes, the Neapolitan Dario Sammartino graduated vice-world champion at the 50th edition of the Las Vegas World Series of poker. His race ended only at Heads Up of the Main Event against the Iranian-born German Ensan Hossein. In third place is the Canadian Alex Livingston. No Italian had ever come so high in the competition.

Sammartino, a 32-year-old Neapolitan, has been a professional player for about 12 years, winning 6 million dollars (if he arrived first, they would have been 10). Dario's company started ten days ago when he joined the tournament along with 8568 other participants from over 100 different countries. The total prize money exceeded 80 million dollars and the first 1286 positions were rewarded.

His biggest win came in July 2019, coming second out of 8,569 players in the WSOP Main Event, winning $ 6 million. He achieved other results in 2017, finishing 3rd at the "$ 111,111 High Roller for One Drop" of the WSOP, collecting over $ 1,600,000, and in 2015 he placed 4th at the EPT collects € 709,500.

Among the other prominent winners there are in 2014 a final table at the WSOP in which it is placed 6th, collecting $ 91,670. In 2016 at PCT he placed 4th, cashing $ 562,460. In 2015 he made a final final table at the WSOP, coming out 4th and collecting $ 163,604.

In July 2019 after having obtained the second placement in the main event of the 2019 WSOP Dario Sammartino turns out to be the 1st most successful Italian player in the history of poker, with a total of over $ 12,000,000 cashed in his career, also the result of numerous prizes in the EPT, in the previous WSOP and in the WPT circuit.
