ROME – Nathan Adrian , five times American Olympic champion, has revealed that he is suffering from testicular cancer , but is confident about a recovery and the possibility of competing at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
In a post on Twitter, the 30 year old 100 free style champion at the 2012 London Olympics said he wanted to go swimming again after "a few weeks" from the beginning of his treatment. "We took it early and I already started the treatment. The prognosis is good, "wrote Adrian.
"I'll be back in the water in a few weeks with my eyes completely focused on Tokyo," he reiterated.
The champion then sensitized men to regular checks for their health: "I realized that too often we tend to avoid these important issues, we ignore the potential warning signs and postpone the medical assistance we need".
