ROME – Milan is excluded from participation in the Europa League in the 2019/20 season for financial fair play violations in the 2015-18 and 2016/18 monitoring periods. This is established in the consent award, the agreement reached by the Rossoneri club with UEFA in front of the Tas on June 24th. At this point the entry of law into the Rome groups that would have had to face the preliminaries also became official. Failure that now goes to Turin.

The Rome, sixth in the league, climbed in place of Milan with direct participation in the tournament while the Turin, ranked seventh, access to the preliminaries instead of the Giallorossi.

Milan was convinced to give up the participation in the Europa League in exchange for more time to reach a balanced budget (currently set for 2021) according to the poles imposed by the Financial Fair Play. Returning to the participation of Rome and Turin, it was possible thanks to Article 4.08 of the UEFA Regulation: if a team is not admitted to a competition, it will be replaced by the club best placed in the local championship.
