Marseille-Lazio, risk of clashes between fans. It all started in 1993, for a stolen banner

ROME – Marseille-Lazio is at high risk clashes between the fans . All because of a rivalry born in August 1993 , when at the Olimpico stadium in Rome, during a friendly summer, Lazio fans stole a banner to the French ones.

For the French ultras, that theft was a cause for shame. Why lose a banner that way, subtracted by two opposing fans without anyone noticing, was a real disgrace. For unwritten rules, when a similar situation occurs, one should even dissolve the group, but for the French it did not happen. For the Lazio, however, it was a triumph.

The French tried to take revenge in 2000, in the Champions League. First with clashes between fans after the match of the Olimpico (won 5-1 by the biancocelesti), but especially in the return, played in Marseille.

These days, the French city is covered with flyers with the words "Marseille is anti-fascist" (the French curve is notorious on the left while the Lazio right, ed), and the tension for the game from tonight will be high, since about 500 Lazio are expected. Along with the biancocelesti supporters, several supporters of Wisla Krakow and Levski Sofia are expected, twinned for years.

At the Velodrome in Marseille , in the match tomorrow night, October 25, the French curve will be closed due to a disqualification, but the company has decided to lower the prices of the Ganay tribune, which will collect the hottest part of transalpine fans.
