ROME – Mario Jardel, one of the most prolific strikers of the 1990s (130 goals in 125 games with Porto, 22 goals in 24 games with Galatasaray, 53 goals in 49 matches with Sporting Lisbon), he has confessed to having had of the significant problems of drug addiction over the years: “I entered the drug world out of curiosity when I played in Europe. I started eating it regularly when I was on vacation because during the competitions there would be doping controls ”.

Mario Jardel, after his experiences in Portugal and Turkey, has traveled half the world where he has collected, let's say, less brilliant experiences: in 2003 the experience at Bolton, in 2004 the short and disappointing experience at the Ancona; in 2004 the striker flew to Argentina where he played with the Newell's Old Boys; in 2005 double experience first in Spain, with the Alaves and then in Brazil with the Goias; then again Portugal, Turkey, Cyprus, still Argentina, again Brazil but also Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia.

Jardel blames his dependence on the lifestyle of the players: "It is one of the problems of the footballer – he says – You have a lot of money and there are many traps, friendships, temptations and curiosity".

"Now – he explains – I am free of those substances and my wife has been fundamental in this. He was at my side even in the most complicated moments. Now I want to give my children a good image and also to do social work so that young people do not make the mistakes I made ".

The article Mario Jardel tells: "I used drugs. But only on vacation … " seems to be the first on daily Blitz .
