Lazio, Immobile mortgages the Golden Shoe: Lewandowski has passed, now he must keep Cristiano Ronaldo at a distance

Lazio, a record-breaking Ciro Immobile is one step away from winning the Golden Shoe. The center forward from Campania has overtaken Lewandowski, now he must keep Cristiano Ronaldo at a distance to celebrate the coveted individual trophy.

Lazio, Ciro Immobile scored against Brescia and took 35 goals. Thanks to these 35 goals, the Lazio center forward overtook Lewandowski to take the lead in the Golden Boot standings.

To win it, Immobile will have to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at a distance, who at the moment is four goals away (even if he will soon play against Cagliari).

But Immobile is not only in the running for the Golden Boot, scoring another goal would hook Higuain at 36. At the moment the Argentine holds the season goal record in Serie A. Obviously, with two more goals, Immobile would become the only player in Serie A history to have scored 37 goals in a single season.

The Golden Shoe is a trophy that has existed since 1967 but in all these years only two Italians have managed to win it (Luca Toni with Fiorentina in 2006 and Francesco Totti with Roma in 2007).

So the last Italian to have won the trophy is a footballer, Totti, who played in a team in Rome. So if Immobile were to manage to win it, he would bring the trophy back to both Italy and Rome, but this time on the biancoceleste side of the Tiber.

The center forward from Campania would be the first player in the long history of Lazio to have won this trophy.
