Italy Under 21, positive player at Covid. In isolation with a partner

An Under 21 player tested positive for the swab carried out before the meeting in view of the matches against Slovenia and Sweden.

A blue from the Under 21 national team , called up for the commitments against Slovenia and Sweden, tested positive for coronavirus .

In compliance with the protocols in force, the player, as well as another teammate who came into close contact, were not allowed to retire and were placed in fiduciary isolation.

The team coached by coach Paolo Nicolato met on Sunday evening and on Thursday 3 September in Lignano Sabbiadoro will return to the field to face Slovenia in a friendly match.

On Tuesday 8th, the azzurrini will take the field at the Kalmar Arena against Sweden for the qualifying match for the European category.

Italy Under 21 are currently second in the standings in Group 1 with 13 points from 5 games (4 wins and 1 draw). And three points behind leaders Ireland, who, however, played two more races.

To qualify for the European Championship, Italy will have to close the group in first place or place itself among the five best runners-up of the nine groups. Who will join the national teams of the two host countries, Hungary and Slovenia, for a group stage with four groups of four teams that will take place from 24 to 31 March 2021. (source AGI)
