Inter in the Europa League final, the first Italian after Parma in 1999

Antonio Conte's Inter beat Shakhtar 5-0 and went to the Europa League final. It never happened before an Italian team got there. The last was Parma in the still Uefa Cup, in 1999.

Inter in the Europa League final and the one against Sevilla will be the tenth European final for the Nerazzurri: the balance is six won and three lost. After Parma, winner of the Uefa Cup against Marseille in 1999, no Italian team has ever made it to the final.

And to think that Antonio Conte had come very close . In fact, in his third year at Juventus, after coming out of the Champions League groups in the now famous challenge under the snow in Istanbul, Conte reached the semifinal of the Europa League.

However, Juventus were eliminated by Benfica (2-1 defeat in Portugal and then 0-0 in Turin). Irony of fate? Conte would have found Sevilla in the final, and even at the Juventus Stadium since that year the final was played in Turin. Sevilla won it, the queen team of the competition with 5 finals won out of 5.
