PORTO – Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas suffered a heart attack while training with the Portuguese club. The Oporto company confirmed the news to TVi24. Casillas, 37, underwent minor surgery (catheterization), as reported by Maisfutebol, who explained how the goalkeeper would be conscious and out of danger. The only certainty is that Casillas cannot return to the field until the end of the season. Casillas, known to football fans for his triumphs with Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, recently renewed his contract with the Port until 2021.

Casillas is considered one of the best goalkeepers of all time, he was a flag of Real Madrid, with which he won five Spanish championships, two King's Cups, four Spanish Super Cups, three UEFA Champions League, two UEFA Super Cups, an Intercontinental Cup and a FIFA club world cup. With Porto he won a Portuguese championship and a Portuguese Super Cup.

The Spanish goalkeeper took part in five European Championships (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016) – absolute record -, four World Cups (2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014) and two Confederations Cup (2009 and 2013), winning by captain the Europeans 2008 and 2012 and the 2010 World Cup. The Spanish national football team is the record holder for official appearances.  

At the individual level, he holds the absolute records of appearances in the Champions League and UEFA club competitions, as well as being the record holder of appearances in European competitions for Real Madrid. He was nominated five times the best goalkeeper of the year by the IFFHS (record shared with Gianluigi Buffon);   occupies the 2nd position, behind Buffon, in the IFFHS rankings of the strongest extreme defenders of the decade 2000-2010,   of the fourth century 1987-2011   and the 21st century.
