ROME – A dramatic week for boxing: after the death of the Russian Maxim Dadashev , the Argentine boxer Hugo Santillan collapsed without ever coming to his senses just at the time of the announcement of the winner of the match that was fatal to him. Nicknamed "Dinamita", Santillan was 23, he had been a professional since 2015, he had held 27 fighters (19 wins, 6 pairs, 2 losses), he fought in the super light weight category.
Probably, as in the case of the Russian, the meeting with the Uruguayan champion Edward Abreu should have been interrupted earlier. Poor Santillan collapsed in the arms of the second, before being transported to the hospital where he arrived with a cardio-circulatory arrest. He would never come out of the coma again.
