Gianluca Vialli: "I had cancer. Now I'm fine, but I do not know how the game will end "
ROME – Gianluca Vialli , in an interview with Corriere della Sera, said he had cancer.
"I knew it was hard and hard to have to tell others, to my family. You would never want to hurt the people who love you: my parents, my brothers and my sister, my wife Cathryn, our little girls Olivia and Sofia. And it takes you as a sense of shame, as if what happened to you was your fault. I turned with a sweater under my shirt, because the others did not notice anything, to be still the Vialli they knew. Then I decided to tell my story and put it in the book ".
The book in question is titled "Goals. 98 stories + 1 to face the most difficult challenges "and is published by Mondadori.
Now Vialli is better. "It's been a year and I'm back to having a beastly physique. But I still have no certainty of how the game will end. I hope my story can serve to inspire people at the crucial intersection of life. And I hope that mine is a book to keep on the nightstand, to read one or two stories before falling asleep or in the morning as soon as you wake up. Another key phrase, of those that during the treatment I would stick to the yellow post-it on the wall, is this: "We are the product of our thoughts". The important thing is not to win; it's thinking in a winning way. Life is made up of 10 percent of what happens to us, and 90 percent of how we handle it. I hope my story can help others to deal with what is happening in the right way ".
