Gary Lineker challenges the British government: “I will host a migrant in my home”

National team stars Gary Lineker has decided to challenge the British government: "I will host a migrant in my home".

Former England international Gary Lineker has agreed to host at least one migrant asylum seeker in the United Kingdom at his residence in Surrey, south London.

It is not the first time that the former Tottenham and Barcelona striker, now a popular TV commentator, publicly takes sides with immigrants, and more generally against the closure of borders.

This time it has decided to accept the invitation of “ªRefugees at Home”, an NGO that is seeking hospitality for 2,250.

"I'm not worried at all, on the contrary – Lineker told the Mirror tabloid -.

I have met dozens of refugees over the years through projects organized by football associations, and they have always been lovely kids who appreciate any kind of help.

My children are all grown up, I have a lot of space at home. If I can help them temporarily, I'm more than happy.

Also because I'm used to having young men at home. I have four children in their twenties, and I'm sure that whoever I host will behave better than them ”.

Lineker's decision comes in the aftermath of the arrival on the island of more than 400 illegal migrants, the highest number of landings in a single day since the beginning of the year, despite Boris Johnson – also Wednesday during the first Question Time after. the summer break – reiterated the hard line against smugglers.

Since January 1st, 5,025 migrants have landed in the UK, including 1,468 in August. (source ANSA ).
