Franco Lauro died at home alone, his partner was away on business

ROME – Franco Lauro was struck down by a sudden illness while he was in his home in Rome. The lifeless body of the 58-year-old journalist was found in his apartment by the carabinieri of the San Lorenzo in Lucina station.

The journalist had been last seen on Sunday in the Rai Rome studios, where he had been involved in sports for 36 years and had become the voice for many sporting events.

He joined Rai in 1984, later becoming the voice of basketball and from 2008 to 2014 the conductor of "90 minutes". In 28 years he has commented on eight summer and one winter Olympics (Turin 2006), six editions of the soccer world cup, and as many of the European, twelve European and three basketball world championships.

His colleague Dario Di Gennaro , moved, to the microphones of Kiss Kiss Napoli, said: “To date almost 24 hours have passed since the tragic news and it really seems to be living a nightmare, a very bad dream, instead it is reality. We should all take example from his person, for a better world. "

He also adds: “I'm sorry for how it ended, he was alone at home, since his partner was away on business. I'm really upset about the news that has come to us, he was of a great humanity, a decent man and I repeat we should all take example from his person to live better. I have a great memory of Franco, it doesn't seem absolutely true to me everything that happened to him, truly absurd and incredible for how it ended ”. (source RADIO KISS KISS)
