NAPLES – Great party in Naples for the elimination from the Champions League of Juventus. The fans from Campania celebrated the exit of Juventus with fireworks, music and car horns (it is not the first time it happens, here is a precedent ). The large-eared cup is a true curse for Juventus who, despite numerous attempts, has not managed to win it for 23 years.

Champions damn for Juventus, they haven't won it since 1996.

To find a Juventus success in the top European club competition, we need to go back in time to the final of the 41st Champions League, held on Wednesday 22 May 1996 at the Olympic stadium in Rome, between the Italians of Juventus and the Dutch Ajax. Juventus took the lead at 13 'with Fabrizio Ravanelli but Ajax equalized with Litmanen at 41'.

The regulation time and the extra time were closed on the score of 1-1 and the game was decided on penalties. Juve scored with Ferrara, Pessotto, Padovano and Jugovic, while Ajax scored only with Litmanen and Scholten. That was the last Juventus success in the Champions League.

This year the Bianconeri were the big favorites for the final success after buying gold by Cristiano Ronaldo but the Juventus race stopped at the quarter-finals, to the general amazement, against the baby phenomena of Ajax . A painful and unexpected elimination that was greeted with great enthusiasm in Naples where Juventus is hated by the vast majority of the population.
