The peasant looking for a wife is an Italian reality television program, broadcast on October 6, 2015 at the same time on FOX and Fox Life. The first edition was conducted by Simona Ventura, the second and third by Ilenia Lazzarin, the fourth by Diletta Leotta.
The program is the adaptation of the internationally successful reality show Farmer Wants in Wife, produced by Fremantlemedia Italia for Fox Networks Group Italy. The format, halfway between docu-reality and dating show, was born in the United Kingdom in 2001 and has since aired in about 30 states, including France, Germany, Spain and the United States of America, earning excellent ratings and giving birth to many love stories.
The mechanism of the program is based on the first meetings where the farmers choose, starting from five initial courting, the three with which to start living on the farm; cohabitation is marked by the rhythms of agricultural life and city singles are put to the test with work in the fields, alarms at dawn to feed the animals, milking, cleaning the stables and all the specific activities of each farm.
The farmer can thus test the spirit of adaptation of his suitors, while they will be able to reflect whether the country life really does their case; the farmer, during the cohabitation, can also decide to eliminate one of the suitors.
