FLORENCE – There is another doctor investigated for the death of Davide Astori, the Florentine captain found lifeless on 4 March 2018 in his hotel room in Udine.
He is the director of the Sports Medicine of Careggi, Pietro Amedeo Modesti. On Monday, the same Modesti, with Professor Giorgio Galanti and his collaborator Loira Toncelli, will be heard in prosecution by the prosecutor Antonino Nastasi, holder of the inquiry.
The three doctors, according to the accusation, ended up in the dossier bis, for the report of an exam, 'lo strain' (used to ascertain the contractility and distensity of the heart muscle), which was not present between the cards and which , according to the hypothesis of the accusation, it would have been manufactured to attest an examination not carried out or that, at the time, was not reported.

On 4 March 2018, Astori was found dead in a hotel in Udine that hosted Fiorentina before the match against Udinese in the 27th round of Serie A; according to the results of the autopsy, he died of sudden cardiac death following ventricular fibrillation due to a silent arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (although bradyarrhythmia was first discussed).
As a sign of mourning, Serie A matches and scheduled Serie B and C postponements have been postponed; there were also numerous messages of condolences and commemorations of his death.
