Cycling, the Giro d’Italia 2020 should start on 3 October from Palermo

PALERMO – The Giro d'Italia 2020 , one hundred and third edition of the event and valid as a test of the UCI World Tour 2020 , will take place in twenty-one stages from 3 to 25 October 2020 for a total of approximately 3 500 km, with arrival in Milan .

Initially scheduled for 9 to 31 May 2020 , the race was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the moment, the only certainty we have is that the Giro d'Italia 2020 will start on October 3rd.

From where ? According to the latest rumors, the cycling race should start from Palermo, one of the cities least affected by the coronavirus.

Recall that at first the race should have started from Budapest in Hungary.

The mayor of Monreale Alberto Arcidiacono said on the subject.

Here are his statements made to Giorgio Ruta for palermo.repubblica.it.

“The first Italian stop was scheduled for May 12, with departure from Monreale.

Now we are waiting for the official confirmation that the Giro 2020 will take place in October and that it will pass by us.

It would be a great opportunity for Monreale after this dark period ”.

In Sicily three stages of the next Giro d'Italia should be held.

Cyclists should cross the region passing through enchanting places such as Palermo, Monreale, Agrigento, Enna, Etna, Catania and Villafranca Tirrena.
