ROME – The world of Italian football has to deal with the Coronavirus that is breaking down on the country. Yesterday many matches of the amateur leagues of Lombardy were postponed and the match between Ascoli and Cremonese in Serie B. Today almost all the matches of Serie A have been postponed and only Genoa-Lazio and Rome-Lecce have been played.
Coronavirus, Serie A behind closed doors because it is difficult to plan the recoveries of many games.
The calendar is clogged between league games, the Italian Cup and the European Cups and the recoveries of the races are not easy at all. For this reason, the next league games of the Northern teams should be played regularly but behind closed doors.
At the moment it seems the only viable hypothesis not to postpone the matches as it happened today. For this Sunday you could not do otherwise because there was little time available but from the next you should go to races without fans.
Obviously it would not be an unprecedented fact for Italian football. In the past, several races have been held behind closed doors for disqualifications imposed on various companies. This time it would not be a punitive measure but necessary to get to the end of the championship without further hitches.
In the sports facilities there must be only managers, team players and referees plus all the professionals necessary for the smooth running of sporting events.
