Coronavirus, the first player infected in Verona: it is Mattia Zaccagni

VERONA – Another positive player in Serie A: is Mattia Zaccagni of Hellas Verona. The same club announced it with a note on the website.

"Hellas Verona FC reports that Mattia Zaccagni has undergone medical tests that have shown his positivity to Coronavirus-COVID-19 – says Hellas -.

The footballer, as well as the whole team, will extend the already activated voluntary home isolation until next March 25, continuing to be monitored.

Zaccagni is doing well: in recent days he has only had a few lines of fever.

The Hellas Verona player is the last member of a list that is already quite long. The first Serie A footballer to be infected with the coronavirus was Juventus' Daniele Rugani.

In turn, Rugani has infected teammate Blaise Matuidi and girlfriend Michela Persico. Fortunately, all three are in good condition.

Then came the infections for Sampdoria, which has fifteen cases, and Fiorentina. In short, the virus is spreading like wildfire among the exponents of the world of football.

For this reason, almost all federations have suspended football matches because it is a contact sport that therefore puts athletes' health at serious risk (source ANSA).
