Coronavirus, Minister Spadafora freezes Lotito: “Serie A and training will not resume on May 3”

ROME – Serie A and training will not resume on May 3, as proposed by Claudio Lotito and his "team" composed, among others, also by Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora gave reason to Juventus and Inter, who let their players leave abroad not expecting a quick recovery of the competitive activity, and to the association of sports doctors.

Spadafora's declarations are reported by corrieredellosport.it.

“Football won't start again on May 3rd. Serie A teams have already made a mistake when it was time to stop.

They must understand that nothing will be as before. I thought of our kids used to hugging, hugging, passing the bottle of water: all this will be missing for a long time.

Resuming matches on 3 May is unrealistic – he said in an interview with Repubblica -. Tomorrow I will propose to extend the blocking of sports competitions of all levels for all April.

And I will extend the measure to training sessions, on which we had not intervened because there was still the possibility of the Olympics being held.

Sport is not just football and football is not only Serie A. I will assign an extraordinary 400 million plan to grassroots sport, to amateur associations in the territories, to a fabric that I am sure will be one of the engines of rebirth.

From Serie A football, on the other hand, I expect the requests to be accompanied by a serious desire for change: the big clubs live in a bubble, above their means, starting from the millionaires' salaries of the players.

They must understand that nothing after this crisis can be as before. "
