Coronavirus, historic agreement: Juventus players cut their salaries

TURIN – Historic agreement between Juventus players and the Juventus club to face the coronavirus emergency.

In a world like football, where players rarely give up a penny, the Juventus players have decided to reduce their fees by an amount equal to the monthly payments of March, April, May and June 2020.

Juventus made it official through the following press note.

"Juventus Football Club SpA communicates, due to the global health emergency currently underway which is preventing the performance of the sporting activity, that it has reached an agreement with the players and the coach of the First Team regarding their compensation for the remaining part of the current sports season.

The agreement provides for the reduction of the fees for an amount equal to the monthly payments of March, April, May and June 2020. In the coming weeks, individual agreements with the members will be finalized, as required by current regulations.

The economic and financial effects deriving from the agreement reached are positive for approximately euro 90 million for the 2019/2020 financial year.

If the sports competitions of the current season resume, the Company and the members will negotiate in good faith any additions to the fees based on the resumption and the actual conclusion of the same.

Juventus would like to thank the players and the coach for the sense of responsibility shown in a difficult situation for everyone ".
