Coronavirus, Australia is played. Del Piero’s former team won the women’s league title

MELBOURNE (AUSTRALIA) – Australia is one of the very few countries where football is still played, despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thus, at the 'Rectangular Stadiium' in Melbourne, the final of the women's championship, the W-League, was held between Sydney FC, the women's team of the former team of Alessandro Del Piero , and Melbourne City which, both for men and women feminine, it has the same ownership (and also the same social colors) as Manchester City and New York City.

Captain Steph Catley's goal has given City success, which has earned it its fourth title in the past five years.

The final was attended by 500 spectators, almost all family members of the players, because this is the maximum number allowed in Australia for those who want to attend the sporting events still going on. Among these is the men's football championship, which however is played behind closed doors.

Alessando Del Piero played in Sydney for two years, from 2012 to 2014, scoring 24 goals in 48 appearances. The former Juventus player has failed to win trophies in Australia but has made his international experience available to the club.

Thanks also to his advice, Sydney has managed to make a qualitative leap in both men's and women's teams. The scudetto just won is proof of this (source Ansa).
