Coronavirus and Serie A, the FIGC extends the closure to August 2nd

ROME – The meeting between Serie A clubs and the president of Figc Gravina has just ended .

The parties have reached the following agreement, Serie A is expected to start again on May 31 and should end by August 2.

At first, the parties had agreed on the date of July 12th but the matches would actually have been concentrated in too little time.

Since Premier League and Liga are expected to start after Serie A, it wouldn't have made sense to do things so fast.

Meanwhile, UEFA has already made it known that it intends to end the European cups, which will however start after the national championships, by the end of August.

By extending the end of the Italian season to August 2, the FIGC would have the opportunity to spread the remaining matches in a longer time interval.

After all the national championships with teams still in the running for Europe and the Champions League , Uefa would complete the European cups.

According to the plan foreseen by UEFA, the European cups should start again between the end of July and the month of August.

Both finals are expected to be located in the last week of August.

The Europa League final should be played on August 26, while the Champions League final should be played on August 29.
