Calciomercato, Godin to Cagliari: the reason is the wife who was born in the capital of Sardinia.
Transfer market, Godin to Cagliari for a matter of heart. We are not talking about the love of the Uruguayan footballer for the Sardinian team but of his wife.
In fact, as Il Corriere dello Sport writes, Sofia Herrera was born in Cagliari, where her father José Oscar, known to everyone as Pepe, played in the nineties.
For several days Cagliari had been looking for a great central defender for their new coach Eusebio Di Francesco.
The first attempt was made with Juan Jesus but in the end the Brazilian footballer, who is leaving Rome anyway, decided to stay in the capital to continue to receive his rich salary.
Thus Cagliari opened another negotiation with Roma. This time the name on the plate was that of Federico Fazio.
Obviously all these negotiations with Roma are not accidental, in fact Di Francesco would prefer to work with a defender with whom he shared the Capitoline experience.
Recall that Di Francesco, with Fazio and Jesus in the team, managed to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
But regardless of this, Di Francesco wanted an international level defender and Godin certainly responds to this profile. Does his arrival exclude that of Fazio? It's not for sure.
Cagliari could be enticed by forming a super central pair. An agreement was found with Roma on the basis of three million euros, now the one with the Argentine is missing but the parties are not far off.
In fact, Fazio, as a precaution, missed the friendly match won by Roma on the Frosinone field (source Il Corriere dello Sport ).
