TURIN – The world of football is mourning the death of 83-year-old Benito Sarti, a former footballer from Juventus, Padua, Sampdoria and Varese. Sarti was also part of the Italian national football team. Preferably employed as a full back, if necessary he also disengaged as a centromedian. He played continuously in the Juventus of Boniperti , Sivori and Charles.

Son of a gardener, he trained in the team of his city, Padova, with whom he made his debut in Serie A during the 1955-1956 championship. As Wikipedia writes, in 1957 it passed to Sampdoria and then, in 1959, it was purchased by Juventus for about 80 million lire; in Turin he participated in the final phase of the cycle of the Magic Trio. On November 9, 1958 he made his international debut in Paris, in a friendly against France which ended 2-2.

At the end of 1962, during the classic against Milan, the meniscus fractured and remained stationary for two months. The injury cost him the blue shirt: after that stop, in fact, Sarti was no longer called up for the national team. With Juventus, the club to which he linked most of his career by playing for nine seasons, he won three badges and three Italian Cups. He left the Bianconeri in 1968, abandoning football after a short spell with Varese.
