VARESE – The Enerxenia Arena in Masnago (Varese) will host the match between Italy and Hungary on 22 February, the penultimate act of qualifying for the 2019 basketball World Cup. The decision was taken today during the Federal Council of FIP in Rome. The match could be decisive, in case of a blue victory, to detach the pass to China.
So far, the national team had played in Varese eight friendly matches, with six wins. The federal president, Gianni Petrucci, today has also handed the Palme d'Or, the highest technical honor of CONI, to Boscia Tanjevic, current technical director general of the national youth teams. With Tanjevic on the bench, Italy won the 1999 European Championship.
Crac Fortitudo Basket, former patron Sacrati sentenced to 4 years
Former patron of Fortitudo Pallacanestro Bologna Gilberto Sacrati was sentenced to 4 years for the company's bankruptcy. The decision was taken by the Collegiate Court of Bologna, presided over by the judge Stefano Scati, who also sentenced the former managing director Davide Corbisiero to 2 years.
The two were accused of fraudulent bankruptcy. The Court has fully accepted the requests of the pm Michele Martorelli. Sacrati was president of the board of directors between 2007 and 2010 and sole director until bankruptcy, which dates back to September 2012.
According to the accusation the former patron would have distracted or hidden assets of Fortitudo before bankruptcy, modified the accounting books so as to make the debts accrued to the treasury appear lower, and made preferential payments to some creditors.
The bankruptcy trustee of Fortitudo is a civil party, to whom a provisional amount of 2 million euros has been recognized. The defender of Sacrati, the lawyer Gabriele Bordoni, will appeal.
