ROME – Now it's official: Atalanta will play the Champions League home games at San Siro.
Gasperini's team will move to the Meazza because the works at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo would have allowed them to play the Champions with a capacity limited to 16 thousand spectators.
The captain of the Goddess Alejandro Papu Gomez wanted to thank everyone for the kind concession to play at San Siro and did it on Instagram: “Unfortunately the Champions League will not be played in our stadium, for this reason on behalf of my companions, we wanted thank Inter and Milan for having welcomed us into your glorious stadium … for us it is fundamental not to make long journeys especially in such a demanding competition. It will be an honor to play at San Siro, we will give the best of ourselves. thank you so much".
Josep Ilicic instead would have preferred to play in Bergamo: "I – he always wrote on social media – I don't want to play in Milan".
The decision to make Atalanta play at the San Siro also did not appeal to the supporters of Inter and Milan.
