ROME – Antonio Cassano will not return to the field, not in official matches. The talent of Bari leaves football, retires, "this time it's over for real". The same Fantantonio writes in an open letter spread via twitter by the journalist his friend Pierluigi Pardo.
Cassano thanks the president of Entella Gozzi and the boys "for the occasion they gave me. Now begins the second half of my life, I am curious and charged to prove first of all to myself that I can do beautiful things even without the help of my feet ".
This is the text of the letter:
Dear friends. The day has arrived, the day when you decide it's over for real. I thank President Gozzi and the guys of the Entella for the occasion they gave me. I wish him all the best. In these days of training, however, I realized that I no longer have the head to train continuously. To play football you need passion and talent but above all it takes determination and I have other priorities right now. I want to thank all the teammates of these years, the opponents, the coaches and the managers (yes, of course, even those with whom I have sometimes fought). But above all I want to greet the fans, those on my side and even the opponents, because without them football would not exist.
The ball gave me a lot. He introduced me to wonderful people, great champions and ordinary people. He took me off the street, gave me a wonderful family and above all made me so crazy. Even today when I happen to see any game I am hypnotized. It is the most beautiful game there is. Yes, I know, with another character I could have won more and played better, but believe me, I still experienced incredible emotions and today I have the only things that really matter next to me. My family, friends and zero regrets. Now begins the second half of my life, I am curious and charged with showing first of all to myself that I can do beautiful things even without the help of my feet.
