Angelo Rottoli died of coronavirus, was a European and intercontinental boxing champion

BERGAMO – The boxer from Bergamo Angelo Rottoli, 61 years old, from Presezzo (Bg) has died .

He had been hospitalized in the Policlinico di Ponte San Pietro because he was hit by the coronavirus, after two weeks ago he had lost his mother and brother .

Rottoli started as an amateur in 1977 and turned professional in December 1981 as a heavyweight : in two years he became Italian champion.

In the light heavyweight he came to compete for the WC World Cup, losing through injury to Puerto Rican Carlos De Leon in 1985.

In 1987 he became an intercontinental Wbc champion in light heavyweight and then European champion in light heavyweight; in 1987 he loses his European title.

Rottoli played another match in April 1990, losing it: that defeat led him to end his career after 35 fights.

The FPI, having taken note of the urgent measures regarding the containment and management of the epidemiological emergency from COVID-19, announces that the Federal Council, in the meeting of 29 April us with act no. 76, approved a further revision of the AOB 2020 Agonistic Activities Calendar.
